The strategies of the two players on the Romanian market intersected at key moments, such as the launching of fixed telephony in June 2007 for Vodafone and in October 2007 Orange, while the Vodafone-Boom partnership follows the Orange and UPC deal in February 2008.
The joint Vodafone-Boom offer, launched as of 18 August, includes fixed telephony, broadband mobile internet access, and digital television. “We confirm the existence of a Vodafone Romania – Boom partnership for a joint offer of telecommunications and entertainment services. This is currently a pilot project, by which we want to test the interest of the market for our packages, which include fixed telephony and mobile internet from Vodafone, and digital television from Boom,” said Lidia Solomon, Director of Public Relations for Vodafone Romania. She went on to say that this offer is available at present in Prahova, Giurgiu and Calarasi Counties. “Depending on the appetite of our clients for these joint services, we will decide on the next steps for the Vodafone Romania – Boom partnership,” added Solomon.
RCS&RDS was the first telecommunications operator in Romania to launch a quad play offer at the end of 2007.
