Volatility on BVB

During Friday’s session, BVB’s liquidity was the highest in 2008, at €24.86 million, while the BET-FI index, of financial investment companies, rose 6.28 percent.

Brokers say the volatile evolution of the Romanian stock market makes forecasts difficult, but they are expecting new drops on BVB, following the spectacular increase in quotations on Thursday and Friday.

“It is hard to predict BVB’s evolution. We are still sensitive to the evolution of foreign markets, although we had a short-term rally with significant growth,” said one of the brokers with IFB Finwest, Mihai Chisu.

“A global crisis is ongoing. The worst is over, but I think we will have further negative surprises. The Romanian capital market will probably be subject to a decrease in the number of investors, at least in the short-run. The advantage is only on the side of new investment funds, including pension funds,” said Valentin Ionescu, an analyst for Wood&Co.
