Voltinvest relied on SIFs, pharma and oil companies to increase its portfolio

"We plan to develop our own trading activity on the Bucharest Stock Exchange and will analyze the possibility of listing," Cristinel Sandu Popescu, Voltinvest's General Manager, told Business Standard. Main share packages owned by Voltinvest belong to SIFs, pharmaceutical (Biofarm and Antibotice) and oil companies (Petrom and Rompetrol Rafinare).

The brokerage company is not attracted to issuers on the Bucharest Stock Exchange’s (BVB) Rasdaq electronic section. "We invest less in shares on the Rasdaq market, considering the liquidity and transparency problems of companies traded there," added Sandu Popescu.

Voltinvest posted RON 0.8 mln (€0.24 mln) in gross profit in the first half of 2007, and a turnover worth over RON 1.1 mln (€0.33 mln). Results are below those registered in H1 2006 (profit of RON 1.7 mln and business worth RON 2.2 mln), as there were no revenues from public offerings this year.

As a mid-sized brokerage company, with some €40 mln worth of transactions mediated in the first 10 months of 2007, the company ranked 42nd in an annual top of brokerage companies operating on BVB.
