Wages grew by almost 40 percent in 2007

The highest average net wages were for financial intermediation activities, at RON 3,791 (€1,045), while the lowest was in the wood and cork process industry, excepting furniture, at RON 651 (€179.59). The National Prognosis Commission (CNP) estimated an average net wage of RON 1,026 (€283) by the end of 2007.

Wages dropped in some sectors, according to INS data. In the health sector, social assistance, hydrocarbon extraction, and ancillary services, average net wages dropped by 4.6 percent to 6.5 percent, due to lower production or bonuses offered the month before.

Health is also one of the few sectors in which prices have dropped as well.
