Over €70 mln were invested through projects financed with SAPARD funds and the Farmer Program since 2004, according to ONIV data. "All investments made in the past four years have led to a refreshing of the sector. As such, we will have increasingly better wines on the Romanian market," said Necsulescu. He mentioned that Romania spent €7 mln in the 2006-2007 wine campaign, which means 80 percent of the European funds allocated for this period.
Necsulescu went on to say that the sector has carried out projects worth €38 million in the 2007-2008 wine campaign, while funds worth €24 million have been allocated from the European Union's budget.
ONIV indicated an average production of 4,500 kg/hectare was registered in 2007, which will lead to more than 6 million hectoliters of wine, a 20% year-on-year increase. (NewsIn)
