She stressed that the company will not make further layoffs in the coming three months. According to the Prahova County Employment Agency, the laid off workers will be employed in the textile industry and the retail sector (especially by supermarket network Kaufland) in the near future.
Other car part producers that have announced layoffs are Valeo, Lisa Draexmaier, Subansamble Auto, Leoni Wiring Systems Romania, SEWS Romani, and Eybl Automotive Romania.
The Romanian auto industry, which provides some 200,000 jobs, registered a 40 percent total turnover growth rate in 2008, to €10.7 billion, which includes the results of dealers, constructors, and car part producers. However, the market is currently declining, due to the international crisis.
