In the first half of 2008, the company’s business dropped 17.4 percent year-on-year, to €29 million. In the third quarter, sales rose 2 percent year-on-year.
The local subsidiary of Czech Zentiva producer has some 200 products in its portfolio. More than 150 are part of the portfolio of local Sicomed producer, acquired by Zentiva. The remaining 50 products are part of the Czech producer’s global portfolio and are imported from Slovenia, Turkey and the Czech Republic.
Damian said he is not worried about recent exchange rate fluctuations. “We drew up our budget on the basis of a RON 3.54/€1 exchange rate, because we think this should be the exchange rate,” he said. Romania’s National Bank yesterday set a RON 3.7148/ €1 exchange rate.
Zentiva’s main competitors on the local market are Terapia Ranbaxy and Antibiotice Iasi.
