“Last year we registered turnover worth €160 million, and the three-fold increase forecast for this eyar is based on a series of major contracts, including that recently announced with Zapp, to supply infrastructure equipment,” added Huidu.
“Some 50 percent of mobile telephone operator sites in Romania use ZTE equipment,” according to the company’s Deputy General Manager.
ZTE’s Romanian business is run by Clark Chuanzhong Li, with Calin Huidu and Lorian Vintila, Marketing Director. Its main clients are Orange, Vodafone, Romtelecom and Euroweb.
“We are planning to obtain 15 percent of the equipment market this year, become the number one supplier of HSUPA (Ed. n.: high-speed uplink packet access) modems, supply 25 percent of signature class telephones, and 10 percent of 3G type terminals,” said Vintila. Two of Vodafone-signed phones are delivered by ZTE.
ZTE is hoping to replace Orange and Vodafone’s current equipment, something that the company says must be done on a regular basis to keep up with increased demand for transmission bandwidth. It claims to offer quality products at low prices.
