Iceland-based Actavis producer, which took over the Sindan factory in 2006, posted a 35 percent profit margin in 2007, the highest of all local producers. Actavis is specialized in cancer treatments. In 2006, Sindan’s profit margin was 22.9 percent.
Actavis posted turnover in 2007 worth €13.9 million for production activities, compared to €11.3 mln year-on-year. The company has 137 employees on the production segment.
Another local producer, Antibiotice Iasi, had a 14 percent profit margin and business worth €68.8 million. The company is the largest local employer, with personnel totaling 1,565 people.
Producer Terapia-Ranbaxy, which has a factory with 1,026 employees, posted business worth €88 mln and profit amounting to €11.7 mln, leading to a 13 percent profit margin.
