Gabriel Jitaru, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Complet Electro Serv, part of the Altex group, declared for Business Standard that the company has been studying this opportunity and will make a decision on whether or not to participate in the September auction for one of the largest public contracts in recent times.
“I cannot confirm anything yet 100 percent, but we will probably take part. We are working on the bid. There are several very harsh demands, one of them a two-month delivery deadline, but we will set up a strategy for this,” added Jitaru. Representatives of Flamingo International, one of the main players on the Romanian PC market, listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, did not wish to comment about this auction.
Razvan Ziemba, Chief Executive Officer of Asesoft Distribution, one of the largest distributors of IT&C equipment, indicated that the IT market was affected this year by macroeconomic factors. “Because the beginning of the year was a poor one, we expect growth of 10 percent, but this estimate does not include the Ministry of Education auction in September, which could significantly propel the market. We are talking about 450,000 PCs which must be delivered in two months from the closing of the auction, and which would raise the market by 30 percent,” added Ziemba.
Asesoft Distribution’s CEO also indicated that brands and one or two local assemblers will benefit from this contract, although it will somewhat affect the rest of the market. “Once you distribute such a large number of PCs to the market, many will limit the acquisitions they were planning,” added Ziemba.
