The company sold 691,000 units in H1 2007, 12 percent more than in the first six months in 2006, mainly due to exports. The company exported 411,000 units, of which 62 percent were sold in European Union member countries, such as France, Spain, Germany, Poland and Great Britain.
"The main objective for 2007 targets an increase in the company's productivity and competitiveness in Romania and internationally," said Ugur Kayali, General Manager of Arctic. Arctic added Ireland, Albania and countries in Central Africa to its foreign client portfolio in 2007, and intends to export more than 70 percent of this year's domestic production.
"This growth pace is due to investments in the production capacity of the Gaesti factory, in applying production management systems, and in developing the logistics sector," Kayali said.
Arctic sold some 280,000 household appliances on the local market in H1 2007, of which more than half were refrigerators. Over €10 million were invested in business infrastructure consolidation, in modernizing production lines, and in developing new products, for both local and foreign markets. Arctic Gaesti registered €14.91 million in profit in 2006, up 11 percent year-on-year, and net sales of €194 million, 30 percent higher than in 2005. Sales totaled 1.44 million units in 2006, of which 741,000 were exported to over 35 countries.
