BestJobs: Over half of local employees would resign if they faced salary cuts

“Romanians are not the only ones to react actively to the possibility of salary cuts. The same survey conducted on BestJobs websites in Bulgaria, Serbia, and the Republic of Moldova registered figures close to those obtained in Romania,” said Andras Nagy, Manager of BestJobs.

While 33 percent of employees who responded to the survey are willing to accept 10-15 percent salary cuts, 12.5 percent of employees said they did not know what decision they would make in such a situation.

Recruitment specialists said that the intention of employees to leave their jobs due to salary cuts is an irresponsible decision given the current context.

Daniela Necefor, Managing Partner of the Total Business Solution company, said that employees who decide to resign will have a tough time finding a new job and the latter will definitely be below the level of the previous workplace.

“At present, some 99 percent of companies on the local market have cut the salary offered at recruitment by 20 percent, up to 30 percent. Employees should take this into consideration, because it will be difficult for them to find a similar position at a higher salary,” Necefor added.
