Bombadier could produce rolling stock for export at Electroputere

“We have an excellent collaboration with Electroputere Craiova, where we assemble components for trains we deliver to [Bucharest’s underground] Metrorex. We generally produce for the country in which we are present, but it is possible that we could produce for export in Craiova in future,” according to a declaration for Business Standard by Anton Schiruk, Senior Consultant of Bombadier Transportation.

Schiruk added that Bombadier will participate this year in all auctions to be organized in Romanian cities to supply trams. “There are three projects in Romania in 2008, one in Bucharest, for 100 trams, and another two projects in Arad and Timisoara, for 10-20 trams each in the two cities. Furthermore, [Romanian passenger railroad company] CFR Calatori will organize an auction for 50-100 electric trains,” said Bombadier’s Senior Consultant. Schiruk further indicated that his company will propose the long-distance electric AGC train to CFR Calatori, and an extension of the Metrorex contract.
