“It is an important infrastructure project, in which BRD will participate with a financing bid. I do not know at this time what will be the value of the loan, procedures for finalizing bids will end in a few months, and the winner will be designated in September-October,” Gelin said. The official added that the high value of the project could cause the work to be financed by several banks or financial institutions, both local and international.
BRD stressed it was interested in financing infrastructure projects several times, and opened a line of credit worth €60 million for the Hidroconstructia construction company last year, as leader of a local bank consortium. The Comarnic-Brasov section is the first Romanian highway which will be finalized with the own funds of constructors, and the investment will be recovered from highway user fees. At the beginning of May, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Radu Berceanu announced that the auction for the construction of the Comarnic-Brasov section was won by the Vinci-Aktor consortium, for €1.5 bln.
