Deloitte & Touche looking for Romanian emigrant consultants

Romanian specialists who left the country several years ago and have acquired Western-style work experience are ideal candidates for middle and top management positions in the consultancy company’s Romanian branch. In the past few months, several specialists have agreed to return to Romania and work for Deloitte, according to the company’s Human Resource Manager for the Balkan area, Valeria Mihaiescu.

“We have two recent examples: the Marketing and Client Manager comes from Deloitte Canada, and a Risk consultant returned from Britain. We are currently negotiating with a Romanian who has spent five years in Canada,” Mihaiescu told Business Standard. Romanian spe­cialists agree to return to Romania because of opportunities now being offered by the Romanian market, and the chance for rapid ca­reer promotion. They are usually hired for positions higher than those they have abroad and at salaries similar to their Western ones.

Since joining Deloitte last year, Valeria Mihaiescu, former Human Resource Manager and Vice President for Vodafone Romania, said she is looking for Romanians working in Deloitte branches abroad.

“I wish the percentage of Romanians working for Deloitte could increase regularly,” she added.

At present only four of the 11 partners with Deloitte Romania are Romanians. “We are presently working with many expats, not only partners, but also managers, senior managers and directors,” Mihaiescu added.

Deloitte has several openings for consultants because of the company’s rapid growth, of 25-30 percent per year, and due to a 15 percent personnel fluctuation.

Besides consultants, the company is also targeting young university graduates, of which it will hire 55 for entry-level positions this summer.
