Deutsche Bank interested in financing renewable energy in Romania

The wind projects Deutsche Bank is interested in have a capacity ranging from 50-100 MW. The German bank plans to begin energy trading in Bucharest after finalizing the respective agreements. Pisanti added that the projects announced in Romania on the renewable and wind energy segments could be delayed due to the international financial crisis. “The financial crisis is bringing nothing but chaos to the market, and the risk that some projects will slow down is very high, although Romania has a veritable potential in terms of natural resources, such as wind, water and biomass,” said Pisanti.

Regarding investments in renewable energy, Pisanti said that local authorities are not sufficiently encouraging the production of electricity in this area. Deutsche Bank participated in the privatization of Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR) in 2005, planning to make BCR a hub for its regional development in Southeastern Europe, but the bid was won by Austrian Erste bank.
