The offer of another competitor, Megaconstruct construction company, was not suitable for the seller, according to market sources for Business Standard.
Sources added that Petrom, Romania’s largest company, is seeking to obtain a better offer from Distrigaz Sud, or a new tender is to be organized. The current offer is worth €10 million.
Petrom officials said they choose one offer, but declined to name the company. “Petrom selected the best offer and is undergoing negotiations to improve it,” the company’s Communication Manager, Dan Pazara, said.
According to market sources, Megaconstruct offered €7 million for Petrom Distributie Gaze. Company officials were not available for comment.
Petrom General Manager Mariana Gheorghe recently told Business Standard that the company is not forced to sell Petrom Distributie Gaze and that it targets “acceptable conditions” from those interested.
Sources within Petrom said the company was expecting offers worth at least €20-25 million from its gas distribution division sale.
