Electric appliances market hit by sharpest decline in years

The electric products market totaled €356 million in the first three months of 2009, the lowest value in the past two years. Compared to Q1 of 2008, the drop is 33.4 percent.

Electronic product sales amounted to €59 million and the negative trend, already visible on all segments in the final quarter of 2008, also impacted the market this year.

Some two thirds of electronic product sales were made of LCD and plasma screens. However, this segment registered two-digit decline, according to the study.
