Eurostat: Romania has the highest rise in construction in EU in January 2008

The construction sector increased 1.6 percent in the euro zone and 0.6 percent in the EU in January 2008 compared to January 2007. The annual increase was 1.6 percent in the euro zone and 0.7 percent in the EU. 

Of all member states, the highest construction increases were in Romania and Slovakia (+14.9 percent) and the largest decreases were in Spain (-8.0 percent) and the United Kingdom (-2.9 percent). 

Of all member states, the most significant increases in January 2008 compared to December 2007 were in Slovakia (+17.0 percent) and Germany (+11.7 percent).
