Growth is due to sales network expansion and tires and spare parts sales, which make up a significant share of the company’s business.
The company sold 1,682 trucks last year and expects sales to be similar this year. In the first half of the year, the company sold 625 units, slightly lower than in H1 2007. “The market is stagnating and competitors reporting higher half-year sales are including both deliveries and stocks,” Gorcea added. EVW has not yet delivered fleets ordered by significant clients, such as the Lazar transportation company, the Arabesque construction material retailer, and Petrom oil company. “When this happens, things will change significantly,” he added.
It has a showroom and service unit network in five cities and a further four sales points in Romania. It also owns a sales point and a service unit in Chisinau, in the Republic of Moldova.
This year’s investments amount to €14 million and will be used to turn sales points into integrated centers with showrooms and service units, and a new headquarters in Cluj-Napoca, the latter to be finalized next year, according to Gorcea.
