Fewer deals in IT&C due to financial crisis

“In the telecom field, I think the market became mature. As a consequence, our services are more focused on segments neighboring the telecom segment, such as media&advertising, intellectual property, industry litigations,” said a lawyer within law firm Nestor Nestor Diculescu Kingston Petersen (NNDKP), Silvia Axintescu.

Regarding the transactions volume in 2008, law firm Stoica&Asociatii’s Managing Partner, Radu Rizoiu, said no major deals are foreseen this year, due to lack of financing. “On the other hand, the same financial crisis will prompt more small players to focus either on strategic alliances with large players or on mergers with medium-sized players to survive,” he said.

Three acquisitions targeting consolidation happened this year on the IT distribution market. RHS Company took over Proca, the distribution division of RTC group, Asesoft Distribution purchased Combox Delivery and Alliance Computers acquired Caro Group.

Telecom operator Vodafone, the second largest on the local market, took over GSM retailers Vegastel and Proton. The most significant move was the acquisition of ITC Networks by Russian company Luxoft, for €50 million.
