The percentage of women working in top management positions at the government level is lower in Romania than the European average, of 25 percent. However, compared to the previous year, when all ministers were men, the result is better, although the share of women in these functions is considered to be small.
The only ministries in which men and women are represented in a balanced ratio are the Ministry of Education, Research, and Innovation, the Ministry for the Relation with Parliament, and the Ministry of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Trade, and the Business Environment.
In the private sector, main fields with the highest share of women in top management positions are public relations, human resources, and marketing. In the PR sector, almost 80 percent of managers are women, according to a study by the Mercer consultancy company.
