Ford Romania could take over importing American cars from Romcar

Contacted by Business Standard, representatives of the present importer confirmed that “there is a partnership” between Ford Romania and Romcar, but refused to comment on the possible takeover of the brand by Ford Romania.

Present at the takeover ceremony of Automobile Craiova, John Fleming, President of Ford Europe, refused to comment on a possible takeover of the importing of the Ford brand on the local market by Ford Romania.

Ford is the top brand of the Tiriac Holdings auto division, with Romcar estimating sales of over 26,000 cars this year, and turnover of some €340 million, up 20 percent compared to the 21,732 units last year, worth €275 mln, according to company representatives.
