For 2009, Vinette estimates an average occupancy rate of 55-60 percent, some 10-15 percent below last year’s level. However, the company official forecasts that the occupancy rate will stabilize in March and April, followed by a downward trend in July and August, and a rebound as of September.
“In times of crisis, it is important to evaluate the breakeven point – what occupancy rate one must have to cover all expenses. If one falls below this point, one has to begin laying off employees. So we are fighting every day to reach that point or even exceed this,” said Vinette.
The Pullman brand is part of the portfolio of the French Accor hotel group, which plans to continue to expand countrywide. According to Vinette, the chain’s expansion could be made through both attracting local partners and own investments.
