The firm developed contracts with central and local administrations indirectly, through distributors, making up some 30-35 percent of FSC’s total turnover, according to company officials.

Of FSC’s largest projects in 2008, two, worth some €9 million, were signed with the government sector, and one, worth €8.3 mln, was signed in the private sector, said Diana Comanici, Manager Business Projects, Value Business, of FSC Romania.

Company officials did not mention the value of sales, saying that an evaluation will be made after 31 March, when the 2008-2009 financial year ends. FSC Romania expects €75 million in turnover and a gross profit rate of five percent for this period.

FSC revised its strategy and directed itself towards the IT infrastructure service sector, which is expected to generate some 30 percent of next year’s total sales. “We lost an important segment on low-end products, in favor of Asian producers,” said Dragos Nicolaescu, Country Manager of FSC Romania.

Major players on the local PC market include HP, Dell, FSC, Acer, and Toshiba.

According to the representatives of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCSI), the public sector generated about one tenth of the total value of the IT industry in 2008, estimated at €2.3 billion.
