The group currently owns Train Hungary operator. Grampet officials said last year that they would focus on investments related to both railroad transportation and other fields. Company acquisitions are made based on analyses of market share owned by Grampet on certain segments.

To participate in the current auction, Grampet has secured a letter of guarantee worth €6.5 million from Alpha Bank Romania lender.

Grampet includes transportation company Grup Feroviar Roma (GFR), and rolling stock material producers Remar Pascani and Reva Simeria. It also owns companies in Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro and the Ukraine.

The group estimates a 35 percent increase in turnover this year, up to some €250 million.
