“We need to make more aggressive offers to attract clients and have a better relation with distributors. Though we are well-positioned in the entry and mid-level segments, we will not reach last year’s growth rates in the near future, and we are considering a drop of 10-15 percent in stocks,” said Bogdan Iftemie, Sales Manager of Acer Romania, the local subsidiary of the Taiwanese Acer company, one of the largest notebook producers in the world.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers has revised its strategy and now targets the IT infrastructure service sector, which is estimated to make up 30 percent of the company’s total sales in 2009. “We have lost a significant segment on the low-end products, in favor of Asian producers,” said Dragos Nicolaescu, Country Manager of Fujitsu Siemens Computers Romania.
“It is difficult now to make forecasts for the near future, unlike other years. We need good stock management and higher flexibility to adapt to possible market changes,” said Horia Chitu, Chief Executive Officer of Scop Computers.
Dragos Popescu, General Manager of R.H.S. Company, IT supplier for components, accessories and PC systems, said the firm did not register growth in November, compared to the previous month. “We are not currently affected by the crisis, but we may feel its effects by late February-early March 2009,” he added.
