He said Heineken purchased all the assets of Bere Mures, including its beer factory, its sparkling water factory, and Germisara tourist complex in the Geoagiu Bai resort.
Mailat added that he would not keep his position following the takeover and that he is considering starting his own business. Before the transaction, Mailat was also a shareholder in the company.
Bere Mures is producer of the Neumarkt beer brand and Cezara and Cheile Cibului mineral water brands.
Following this deal, Heineken will have a market share of some 31 percent, thus consolidating its position as market leader. Its main competitors are multinationals InBev, URBB and Ursus Breweries and local brewers European Food and Bermas.
