Hollywood Multiplex estimates 5% earnings increase in 2008

According to data from the National Cinema Center (CNC), the cumulated value of the cinema market in Romania was some €10 million in 2007. The market share of Hollywood Multiplex Operations was almost 50 percent, according to Moroianu, thus resulting in sales worth some €5 mln for 2007.

MediPro’s cinema division increased by 33 percent in 2007 compared to the previous year, and Moroianu estimates a rise of some 2 percent for the entire Romanian cinema market.

Hollywood Multiplex Operations currently owns three cinemas, two of them multiplex theaters and one a single-screen theater. The company plans to expand both the multiplex and single-screen networks.

Its main competitor at present is Movieplex.
