iPhone and BlackBerry take Nokia out of the pockets of managers

A clear example to illustrate this change is the General Manager of ING Romania, Misu Negritoiu. “I have a BlackBerry Curve, which I use in order to access my business mail, and an iPhone, on which I read my private emails, access the mailbox, and other applications, such as maps, location guides, or stock quotations. I used to have a Nokia, but I gave it up. I preferred easier access to email,” Negritoiu said.

Replacing the classical Nokia and Sony Ericsson over the past few years with the new email applications offered by BlackBerry and the touch-screen technology implemented by iPhone reflect in the responses of the more than 20 managers interviewed by Business Standard.

Psychologists say that smartphones offer the user the certainty that he or she has all the solutions at hand. “In business, the feeling that you are the best is essential. Solving a problem quickly is the result of the interactive functioning of all resources: organization, connectivity, and rapid access to the information provided by a smartphone. Also, mentally, with the help of the phone, a person stands out in a crowd, which gives him or her confidence and the conviction that he or she is better than others,” said Corina Bordeianu, a psychologist specializing in consumer behavior and Communications Manager of Starcom.
