Israelis and Indians most interested in Romanian IT

Israel has manifested the most direct interest in Romanian IT, followed by India, France, Germany, the USA and even China. Israelis have invested in processor designing centers in Iasi, coupled with investments in software development either through outsourcing or offshoring. BATM Systems and Sintec MEDIA began operations in Craiova this year. For example, Indian companies are very concentrated on software development and launching call center and service center operations.

“The record was registered in April, when we had four delegations. The monthly average has been three companies, since January 2007, with the exception of July, when we were able to start our projects for this fall,” Florin Vrejoiu, Vice President of ARIES, told Business Standard, adding that foreign companies are either seeking partnerships or wish to begin their own operations. There are about ten companies involved in research for chipset producers in Romania. “The Romanian IT sector does not need country branding anymore. We no longer need to announce that we are good in IT. Now we need company branding for Romanian software companies, to help them become international players, and to do this we are working to prepare several Romanian companies to participate in two international conferences this fall,” Vrejoiu said.
