Local EAS market up to $74.5 mln in 2007

The rise was due to economic growth, foreign direct investments, and better awareness of long-term benefits of such solutions.

Market players expect further growth and say the software segment is set to attract the highest amount of investments.

“The IT industry is extremely dynamic, both locally and internationally. It is expected that software and IT services will become leaders in terms of IT investments in Romania,” said Irina Socol, President and General Manager of Siveco Romania software producer. She added that market growth on the IT services market is possible in 2009, in spite of the international crisis, especially on the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) segment. ERP is part of the EAS segment.

Last year’s leader on the EAS market was the local subsidiary of German SAP company, with a 22.4 percent share. It registered revenues from licenses and services totaling €12.18 million, 25.1 percent higher year-on-year. Siveco ranked second, with a 21 percent market share and 11.44 million in revenues. Oracle follows, with €13.3 percent in market share and revenues worth €7.24 million.

Government authorities were the most significant investors on this segment, spending €9.46 million in EAS, according to IDC.
