Most profitable cold meats producers are located outside Bucharest

Cold meats producers Carniprod, based in the eastern city of Tulcea, Elit, located in the sourthern town of Cugir, Ana&Cornel, Bucharest-based Meda and Campofrio, also based in Tulcea are the top five companies in the field, in terms of profit margins, based on financial results for 2007 published by the Finance Ministry.

Carniprod Tulcea posted €23.7 million worth of business and €4.7 million in income, leading to a 19.83 percent profit margin. The company has two production units.

Elit Cugir ranks second, with a 13.25 percent profit margin, based on turnover worth €49.4 million and earnings amounting to €6.5 million. The company has a production capacity of 100 tons per day. Last year, it opened a new factory, following and investment worth €12 million.
