Multinational beer producers posted turnover worth €700 million in Romania

The first significant beer producer to publish financial results for last year is Dutch group Heineken, owner of Heineken, Zipfer, Gosser, Schlossgold, Silva, Ciuc and Golden Brau brands. Heineken posted turnover worth €210 million in 2007, 25 percent higher year-on-year. The company, which recently took over local brewer Bere Mures in a deal worth over €150 mln, has a market share of some 31 percent in Romania. 

Heineken's direct competitors, Ursus Breweries and InBev, could post turnover exceeding €230 mln and €180 mln respectively. Ursus is likely to be the producer with the highest turnover in 2007, although its market share is inferior to Heineken's.
