Guerry did not rule out the possibility of building a second production facility, in the same park in a few years, but only if demand on the world Nokia phone market justifies this action.
"We met with such good conditions here that we have decided to allow ourselves the possibility of growing here, and not to look for new locations elsewhere for several years," Guerry said.
The €60 million investment made by Nokia in the Tetarom IV park, 20 kilometers northeast of the city of Cluj-Napoca, is currently in an advanced stage of development. "The weather is now the only obstacle in the way of work. We are a bit ahead of execution deadlines, the first part of the factory will be finalized in the first quarter of next year, and work will be completed by the end of the second quarter," Jan-Hendrick Goldbeck, coordinator of the construction company, told Business Standard.
Nokia is world leader on the mobile phone market, with a 39.2 percent share of the 285 million mobile phones sold worldwide in Q3 2007. Nokia also has production units in Brazil, China, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, India, Mexico, and South Korea.
