Nordic, one of the top distributors locally, plans to further increase its portfolio with brands currently sold in Europe or worldwide. “For 2009, we estimate a 5 percent ratio of the Heinz brand in the total turnover. This is to increase to 7 percent in 2010,” company officials told Business Standard.
The company posted €32 million worth of business last year. Its turnover is set to increase by 25 percent in 2009. The top brands in the company’s portfolio are Costa d’Oro, Hulala, Rio Mare, Cirio, and Galbani. “Our range target is to cover the premium food segment by categories and sub-categories, with priorities depending on market demand and absorption capacity,” the Nordic representative added.
The local distribution market is estimated to be worth several billion euro. The top three players in terms of turnover are Interbrands, Top Brands, and Aquila.
