Pastmatex production could be relocated to Macedonia

 

 “Following a cost analysis, the offer we received from the Macedonian state in terms of the weaving segment is more than attractive. Utility prices - electricity, gas, and water - are one third those in Romania, salaries are half of those I pay in the country, and the state offers facilities that make its market extremely attractive,” Grapini told Business Standard.

“If I move production there, I will be exempted from paying income taxes for 10 years, and the state will cover the minimum salary for 10 years,” she added.

Grapini said that she also received an offer for relocation to Kosovo, but has not analyzed this possibility yet.

“There is still one problem to solve before making a final decision, namely human resources. I do not know if I can find workers there who are specialized in the maintenance of the equipment we work with at Pasmatex,” she said.

The company has a production unit in the western city of Timisoara. If production is relocated to Macedonia, Grapini is also considering relocating some of the Romanian specialists to train local workers.
