The four are Samuel A. DiPiazza Jr., CEO of PricewaterhouseCoopers International Limited, James E. Rogers, CEO of Duke Energy, Anders Eldrup, CEO of DONG Energy, and Rob Morrison, President of CLSA in the Asia-Pacific region.

According to a statement made by PricewaterhouseCoopers, one of the world’s largest advisory and audit companies, the impact of the financial crisis, including the alarm signals ignored in the past, indicates the risks and dangers of lack of action.

One solution could be governmental regulations, regarding energy efficiency in the transport and housing sectors, which would add to measures generated by the market, combined with encouraging sustainable practices. Also, more direct government investments should be made through public-private partnerships to sustain the development, presentation and introduction of green technologies.

Valentin Durigu, Senior Manager in the Indirect Taxes Department of the PricewaterhouseCoopers Romania said that, after Romania had signed the Kyoto Protocol, the government developed a series of programs meant to cut CO2 emissions and encourage the use of renewable energy sources.
