“The energy sector is less vulnerable to the crisis, because it has strategic features which provide stability and make it interesting,” Enterprise Capital official Alin Giurgiu said. Many companies undergoing difficulties are now calling on private equity funds for financing, given that banks have restricted access to loans. “Many have turned to places where there is still money, namely investment funds. But we do not offer loans, we want to become majority shareholder,” Giurgiu added.
Meanwhile, the company has projects for biomass energy production and plans to build four factories for wood pellets (fuel generally made from compacted sawdust). Investments are worth tens of millions of euro. The first factory, with a 60,000 tons annual production capacity, will become operational in August.
