The total investment will amount to some €100 million. The businessman might also build a golf course in the area, following a visit to several villages in the region.
Ramos announced last year, during a soccer match between Real Madrid and one of Romania's top teams, Steaua Bucharest, that he wanted to invest in Romania in several swine micro-farms, through a partnership with more than 300 local farmers. He indicated then that he also plans to build a fodder factory, a slaughter house and several production centers for biological material.
Representatives of Ruport Produccion have been to Romania twice since Ramon's visit, in December 2006 and June 2007, to check out the local market. They visited several villages in Ialomita, including Scanteia, Milosesti and Grivita, according to Ialomita County Council Chairman, Silvian Ciuperca. He said the Spanish company has already purchased land in the area. As to the farms, Ciuperca said that Ruport Produccion has not yet made a final decision.
Partnership
The Spanish company will provide biological material, technology and tools to farmers. Several storage facilities are to be built in partnership with farmers.
