The company’s General Manager, Neculai Mihail, said that the fact that companies are expanding outside Bucharest is helping the delivery market development. “There is a visible trend among companies which used to manage their operations from Bucharest alone to set up regional operation centers,” said Mihail.
Furthermore, companies are outsourcing their delivery services almost totally, which also leads to delivery market growth.
FAN Courier’s business rose 59 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2008, up to some €10 million, due to new clients secured this year.
The company doubled its personnel by the end of Q1 to 200 employees, and increased its car fleet by 20 percent, compared to Q1 2007.
Mihail denied rumors that FAN Courier could be sold, but said it had several offers.
The local delivery market is set to amount to €240 million this year, some 30-35 percent higher on 2007. Main players on the market are FAN Courier, Cargus, recently acquired by international DHL group, and Curiero.
