Romania attracted 4% of total FDI in Europe
This is a new record and is due to an increasing inflow of investments into Eastern Europe.

Globally, trans-border investments rose 5.1 percent in 2007, to some €630 million. More than 11,500 investment and expansion projects were announced last year, likely to lead to 2.9 million new jobs. China still tops the investment destination list, with 1,171 projects, worth €59.3 bln.

In Europe, Russia is the leader of investment destinations for the fifth year in a row.

According to data published by Romanian authorities, more than €7 bln entered the country as foreign direct investments (FDI) in 2007, or 4 percent of the €200 mln invested in Europe. FDI made up some 35 percent of total investments made in Romania last year.
