Romania's government aims to reduce budget spendings with salaries by LEI 5.39bn starting June 1

Thus, by applying the 25 percent paycheck cutback to the 1,360,376 public employees, the state would reduce spendings with salaries by 5.39 billion lei in the second half of 2010, the document shows.

The average salary gain in the budgetary sector stands at 2,239 lei.

The representatives of the Finance Ministry also deem the 15 percent cut of spendings with social services will diminish expenses by 5.209 billion lei, which represents about 1 percent of the GDP.
