Romania's leu drops to 3.65 against the euro, despite higher interbank interests

Banks sold 1 euro for 3.6270 lei in today's opening session. The leu climbed to 3.6085 lei per euro and then dropped to 3.6584 lei per euro. The national currency stood at 3.6515-3.6565 lei per euro at 5:40 p.m.

The U.S. dollar increased from 1.4834 to 1.4634 U.S. dollars per euro on the international markets, while at 5:40 p.m. Romania's hour, the euro stood at 1.4650 U.S. dollars.

The interbank interest rates for overnight deposits stood close to the monetary policy of 9 percent per year.
