“We bought over 200,000 euros worth of Erste Bank, OMV and Deutsche Bank shares on their markets of origin,” Marcel Murgoci, Operation Manager of the Estinvest brokerage company, told Business Standard.
Eugen Voicu, President of Certinvest asset management company, said Erste shares owned by the company are worth €90,000, which means 1.18 percent of net assets of the Intercapital fund, one of the four mutual funds administered by Certinvest. Other brokerage companies have share packages similar in value, according to sources close to these companies, although statements to that effect were not officially confirmed.
“The main reason we bought Erste and OMV shares is that these companies have acquired majority shares in Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR) and Petrom, respectively, and we now know more about them,” said Lucian Isac, General Manager of Estinvest. “When we bought Erste shares, the company had not announced its intention to be listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange,” Murgoci explained, while Isac indicated that “Erste’s listing on the Bucharest Stock Exchange was the main reason for acquiring Erste shares.”
According to bank officials, Erste shares will be listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE) in the fall. Furthermore, BCR will become market maker on Erste shares traded in Bucharest.
