Romanian stocks recover; financial companies see gains after heavy losses

Financial investment fund SIF Oltenia (SIF5) and Transgaz Medias (TGN) generated deals worth 8 million lei, half of the total deals seen this morning.

The BET index measuring the market’s ten top performers gained 0.92 percent to 7,493.87 and the BET-C composite index assessing all listed shares minus investment funds rose 0.63 percent to 5,182.16.

The ROTX index for trading blue-chips in Vienna increased 0.84 percent to 16,613.39.

The BET-FI index tracking the five investment funds known as SIFs climbed 1.18 percent to 59,115.76. SIF Oltenia (SIF5) was the most liquid this morning, generating 3.38 million lei, after a 0.30 percent growth to 3.38 lei.

Transgaz was traded for the first time today, at a face value of 267 lei.

BRD SocGen (BRD) was suspended from the market this morning to protect investors after the mother bank suffered a 4.9 billion euros fraud in its brokerage division.

SIF Moldova (SIF2) rose 1.95 percent to 2.62 lei, SIF Banat-Crisana (SIF1) advanced 0.38 percent to 2.62 lei, SIF Muntenia (SIF4) gained 1.13 percent to 1.79 lei and SIF Transilvania (SIF3) increased 2.38 percent to 1.72 lei.

Fifth lender by assets Banca Transilvania (TLV) hiked 0.71 percent to 0.71 lei.

Brokerage house SSIF Broker Cluj (BRK) rose 3.06 percent to 2.02 lei. Drugmakers Biofarm (BIO) gained 1.85 percent to 0.44 lei and Antibiotice Iasi (ATB) fell 0.58 percent to 1.70 lei.
