Besides LPG production at the Petromidia refinery in southeastern Romania, Rompetrol is negotiating with several Kazakh LPG distributors for imports.
According to Sturza, Rompetrol is currently producing 170,000 tons of LPG at the Petromidia refinery and production is to increase to 210,000 tons next year. On the Romanian market alone, demand amounts to 500,000 tons annually.
Rompetrol’s main competitors on the LPG segment are Butan Gas and Petrom, the latter Romania’s largest company.
