RTC head offers 2.5 million euros for wine producer
“If I get into this business I will do so with a partner from abroad who can provide wine production know-how, so that we can get into markets outside Romania,” he said.
The Romanian-Dutch wine producer, Vinterra International, was established in 1998 with a $2.6 million investment.  The wine maker has some 180 hectares of vineyards in the Dealu Mare and Vanju Mare-Orevita regions, known for their quality wines, and two wine cellars. Its most famous brands are Black Peak and Bucur Villa red wines.
Vinterra currently sells its products mainly on the local market.  Other wines produced by the company are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and Feteasca Neagra.  Octavian’s move comes at a time when RTC Holding, one of the largest Romanian retailers and distributors, is being restructured in view of stock exchange listing.
The group posted turnover worth €261 million in 2006, is forecasting a 14.9 percent increase in 2007, up to €300 million, and operational profit of €15 million. In addition to planned expansion into new business areas, Octavian intends to sell some of the groups divisions, including the Sistec SBsol software division, and the cargo and delivery division.
