“Lately, we are overwhelmed by managers from the financial-banking system, or the real estate sector, for instance, who are desperate to find a job. Consequently, they are willing to accept a salary 30-40 percent lower than the one they had, and also demonstrating flexibility in terms of benefits,” Ichim told Business Standard.
Thus, if HR managers had a gross salary ranging from €2,200-4,200 last fall, now companies can recruit an HR specialist for a monthly salary of €800-1,600. HR specialists were among the best-paid managers last year, with bonuses and benefits making up between 10-25 percent of their income, according to the Mercer advisory company.
“Salaries at top management level fell by up to 30 percent, while salaries at middle management level registered drops of up to 20 percent,” said George Butunoiu, executive search specialist.
The Search&Selection Services Coordinator of the Hart Human Resource consultancy company, Loredana Vladareanu, said that the salary of a marketing manager in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) field started last year at €2,500, totaling even a monthly €5,000. Middle managers in marketing department are now accepting salaries worth some €1,000.
