There will be five versions of the Sandero available, with a choice of two gasoline engines types, namely the 1.4 liter 75 hp, or the 1.6 liter 90 hp. Diesel engines will be introduced next year, due to production restrictions at the Pitesti factory and for diesel engine suppliers, said Dacia. Asked if there will be any liquefied petroleum gas version, Francois Fourmont, General Manager of Automobile Dacia, indicated that the company is looking into launching a Sandero with an LPG engine.
The basic €6,890 version of the new Sandero will include driver airbag, anti-lock braking system (ABS), and emergency brake assist (EBA), the latter a first in the Dacia range, height-adjustable seat belts, and a folding rear bench seat.
The car maker has announced that the Sandero will be the first Dacia to carry the new logo. It was first shown at the Geneva auto show in March, and is based on the Renault Sandero, sold by the French Group in Brazil and Argentina.
A sixth model is presently being developed as part of the Logan program and will be a sports utility vehicle (SUV), to go into production in 2009.
